Why I Started CareTribe Community
I was a caregiver—just like you—for ten years, supporting both of my parents through cancer and Alzheimer’s. At the same time, I was raising young children, working, being a wife, and trying to hold together a life that I loved. Then came one diagnosis, one stroke, one moment—and everything changed.
I was overwhelmed. Devastated.
And while I knew caregiving is a part of life, I wasn’t prepared for the mental, emotional, and physical toll it would take.
At the time, few around me were going through the same thing. My parents were still relatively young, and my peers couldn’t relate. I felt completely isolated—moving through the motions of motherhood, marriage, and work, while silently burning out.
The guilt was constant. I wanted to be present for my little boys—laughing, playing, making memories—but my energy was drained by doctor’s appointments, medication schedules, cooking, coordinating, and caregiving. I was heartbroken knowing my parents wouldn’t see my sons grow up. And while I’d see friends now and then, I often felt like I was living on a different planet. I needed a tribe—people who truly understood.
My parents have since passed, but the journey we walked was immense: countless appointments, hospitals, hospice, in-home care, moving them into our home, assisted living, skilled nursing. I became their nurse, cook, cleaner, advocate—learning to administer insulin, give shots, bathe and dress them. It was beautiful and brutal.
Now, I see so many friends beginning their own caregiving journeys. And it breaks my heart. I kept asking myself: How can I help?
People often reach out to me for advice, and I realized what I really wanted to create was the very thing I needed back then: a place to belong.
So I built CareTribe Community. A safe, ad-free space where caregivers can connect, share, laugh, vent, and truly be seen.
This is the space I searched for when I felt most alone.
Back then, I’d post on Facebook in desperation and get kind but isolating replies—“praying for you,” “thinking of you”—but what I really needed was someone who understood. A real connection. A tribe.
This creation is my love letter to my folks, my family, my friends, to all caregivers:
A private community just for you.
A place to connect and feel supported.
I’ll be delivering the live events—the events are designed to give you the support I needed back then from meal prep help to bringing in guest speakers that I met along the way who inspired me during my own journey. It’s all delivered online because I know that your time is precious and getting out is not always possible.
You don’t have to do this alone.
I’ve got you.
Your Tribe is waiting.
Warmly,
Jeanne Girard
